Star Wars Episode VIII – Is that an A-Wing?

As some of you may have seen elsewhere on the internet the Star Wars Episode 8 production crew at Pinewood Studios got a visit from Prince William and Prince Harry.  Among the photos snapped from the visit is one intriguing one shows Prince Harry sittingin the cockpit of an A-Wing.  That’s right folks an A-Wing!

I was especially excited by this image as the A-wing is one of my favourite ships from the original trilogy and is the one I often fly with my YT-2400 when I play Fantasy Flights Star Wars X-Wing game.  But what does this image hint at for Episode 8?

Well for one thing if you’ve read Marvels first issue of the Po Dameron comic you will have been introduced to Po’s Black Squadron whose members include L’ulo, an alien A-wing pilot who flew with Po’s mother during the time of the Galactic Civil War and was first introduced into the new official Star Wars cannon in the Journey to the Force Awakens miniseries.  Now if you look at some of the other photos from the visits you’ll see some images of the T-70 X-Wing.  What is interesting is that background set in both the T-70 and A-wing images are the same (Which appears to be some sort of hanger).  Now for me this hints very heavily to  Black Squadron making an appearance in Episode 8 and could that mean that L’ulo will get his first live action appearance?

In my mind it certainly appears that this is the case.  I mean who else do we know who still flies an A-Wing in the time of The Force awakens?   I mean it is possible that the A-wing could belong to Luke Skywalker.  He would have needed a ship to get to his island get away but Luke is more of an X-Wing jock.  So could we be seeing out first live action incarnation of a comic book character, and is Disney planning on introducing more characters from the comics (and maybe even Rebels) into the films?  I guess we’ll find out in December 2018.  But what do you guys think?
